Click to continue reading]]> Dan Wallace, author of many celebrated Star Wars works, including the new Star Wars: Battles for the Galaxy and Star Wars: The Essential Atlas will be at the Hernando Public Library in Hernando, MS on May 5th at 6:30pm for an appearance in connection with what has become our holiday, May the 4th.

The Library is looking for costumers to help escort Dan in and do some photo ops with him, so costuming is encouraged! Help us make Dan’s visit to the area a memorable one! Let us know if you can make it in costume. There will be space to change and time with Dan to talk Star Wars!

Click to continue reading]]> MidSouthCon 28 is rapidly approaching, and SMT members will be turning out in force!  Many of our members will be moderating panels, attending as guests, or working behind the scenes to ensure the convention is the most successful to date.

Click to continue reading]]> Dark Horse announced yesterday that SMT Honorary Member and friend John Jackson Miller will be pulling double-duty in writing a new ongoing comics series and a novel called Knight Errant.  The press release states that the comic and novel will be set 1,000 years prior to Episode I and will follow the exploits of a young female Jedi named Kerra Holt.

JJM posted to his blog that the comic is scheduled for release later this year, with the novel to follow in 2011.

It’s Good to Be Bad: Monster Portraits of Villainy by Lin Workman

Something wicked this way draws …

Monsters, villains, and folks who are good at being bad will be represented in this art show of black and white airbrushed portraits by artist and FanForce member Lin Workman tonight at the Adam B. Shaw Studio from 6-10pm.

The event is free and open to the public. Costumed attire is encouraged.  The studio is located at 2547 Broad Ave, Memphis.

Lin, as well as other members of the SMT, will be in attendance.  We hope to see you there!
